Following a huge investment, Sutton Courtney Community Playground reopened after a big refurbishment at the end of 2022. Now with a great playground, multi use games area, a skate park and a mini balance bike style pump track it’s great for a mix of ages.
Younger children have a good mix of playground equipment from the mushrooms to balance on, a ground level trampoline, baby swing and some rather unique ant nests with holes to peer through. There are sound gongs and little climbing challenges and slide too.
For the slightly older kids, they get their challenge from climbing and we loved the variety from nets and obstacle style courses to an unusual multi faceted faced shape to try and get up, it’s harder than you might imagine!
It’s not just the climbing that Sutton Courtney Community Playground delivers on but also the swings. There’s one little baby swing, a regular swing, nest swing and then our absolute favourite for one with seats like a zip wire but goes around in a circle.
As well as the playground area, there’s a really good quality court that’s been marked out to play a variety of games from football to basketball (apparently this is called a MUGA – multi use games area so I’ve learnt something new too).
At the far end there’s a skate park, I’m pretty sure this was here when we visited last time and great to have at the park which opens it up to a wider range of ages. Right next to the skate park is a little gently undulating circular track ideal for littles ones who are confident on their balance bikes.
There are picnic tables dotted around as well as a covered area ideal to escape blazing sunshine or a downpour of rain. There’s also a lovely great big grassy area running down the slide of the playground, perfect for kicking around a football of a game of rounders with friends.
There are no toilet facilities here so play ahead before you go. Plenty of free parking, the road you come along feels slightly like you’re going along someone’s driveway as it’s fairly narrow and you can’t see the park initially but keep going and you’ll spot the car park at the end.
