Chobham Recreation Ground

Making the most of the sunshine we decided to head out for some fresh air but stay local today. We’ve always driven past this park but never actually stoped to explore – well until today that is.

The recreation ground provides a large open, green space in the heart of the village, and is used throughout the year for relaxation, sport and play.

Outside of the children’s play area is a lot of open green space which is ideal if you need your fury friends to come along and enjoy walkies at the same time. There is also lots of shaded areas too if you needed to securely tie them up whilst you explored the park, and they would also be in full sight too.

The park is fenced off on a grassy area which is great for the little ones to run around on and explore. At first sight this is a large park with lots of equipment inside to entertain the children, there are also benches if you do need to take a rest too.

We first noticed the metal tractor which seemed a little old school compared to the rest of the facilities but the little ones loved playing on it. They had great fun pretending to drive the tractor, and we’re even able to swing on the monkey bars ahead too.

A firm favourite for us has to be the slides and swings in a park, luckily there was a pair of baby swings and then the toddler swings too (we spend lots of time in a swing) There was also a small slide which Isabella was confident going down on her own, but Noah loved exploring the large slide which did look very high but he absolutely loved it, climbing to the top and then shooting down.

There was also a wooden balance trail where they could use their balancing skills to walk across the rope bridges, use their balance to get across the stepping stones and swing across from start to finish. This was all low level so no accidents were bad given the amount of times they both fell off.

Now the main attraction of the park was the large wooden ship. There was endless amounts of ways to explore to the highest height – you could climb the ladder, use the ropes to pull yourself up or crawl like a spider up the wooden slates. Once at the top you were able to be captain of the park and steer the ship ashore. The fireman’s pole was Noah’s favourite way to get down.

Just outside the park was some more fun activities but my toddlers were too small to enjoy. There was a table tennis’s / ping pong table, a large zip wire and a huge basket swing. Also for the adults or older children there was also an outdoor gym section which had an array of equipment you could use, and on each machine it gave instructions on how to use them.

The car park is conveniently located just outside the play area, and is free to use.
